Only a year after leaving PSG for Juventus, the Argentine world champion was not retained by the Italian club and had the choice between MLS, Saudi Arabia and Benfica Lisbon. His priority? Staying in Europe.
According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Di Maria's return to Benfica is almost complete, and the Argentine is set to sign a one-year contract with the Lisbon club in the next few days, running until June 2024. A fine move on the part of the reigning Portuguese champions.
