Manchester City : Haaland's release clause linked to Guardiola?

According to the Catalan press, Erling Haaland's release clause at Manchester City will not come into effect in 2024, but one year later, in 2025.

Erling Haaland scored a resounding five goals against Leipzig in the Champions League on Tuesday night, reminding those who doubted that he is one of the best players in the world and probably the best striker on the circuit. This has revived the rumors that he will be moving to Real Madrid in the next two years.

After choosing Manchester City last summer, several Spanish media had announced that the Norwegian had inserted a release clause in his English contract to leave City in the medium term. According to Marca, Haaland would have two clauses: one valid in 2024 of €200 million, one valid in 2025 of €175 million.

"This is not true. Haaland does not have a release clause for Real Madrid or any other team," replied Pep Guardiola on October 6. According to Fabrizio Romano, Erling Haaland would have a clause of €200 million valid from 2024 and activable only by foreign clubs (not English).

Haaland's clause valid only in 2025?

But in the last few hours, the Catalan journalist Oriol Domenech revealed on Catalunya Radio that Haaland's famous release clause was linked to Pep Guardiola. Since the latter recently extended his contract until 2025, Haaland's clause would only be valid from that year, not 2024.

In other words, if a club wants to try to recruit the Norwegian cyborg this summer or in the summer of 2024, it will necessarily have to negotiate with Manchester City, which looks very complicated.
