Present at a press conference on Thursday, on the eve of Gibraltar - France, Kylian Mbappé was logically asked about his burning issue with PSG. And the Les Bleus captain didn't shy away from any questions, while remaining cool-headed.

Captain of Les Bleus since the end of the 2022 World Cup, Kylian Mbappé was present at a press conference on Thursday, on the eve of the French team's Euro 2024 qualifier against Gibraltar. And PSG's number 7 was inevitably asked about his future at club level. The opportunity for him to reiterate his intention to stay in Paris next season.

"Will I leave PSG next summer? I've already answered that question, I've said that my aim is to continue at the club. Staying at PSG is my only option at the moment, I'm ready to come back when the season resumes and I hope that the next questions will be about the match because tomorrow we still have a Euro 2024 qualifier and I'm the captain of the French team," he replied coolly, before being asked about his letter sent to PSG which hit the headlines and prompted his club to spread the word that he would be sold this summer if he didn't extend his contract.

"I didn't think a letter would kill anyone".

"The letter wasn't sent during the rally, it was sent before. There's not much that shocks me anymore. I didn't think a letter killed anyone or that I'd offended anyone. I just sent a letter. Afterwards, you can't control reactions, but I don't really care," he said.

And when asked if Emmanuel Macron, who said this week that he would "push" for him to stay at PSG, could have any influence on his future, the Les Bleus captain deftly replied: "What influence can the President's words have on my career? On my career today, in June 2023, none. He wants me to stay in Paris, but my aim is to stay, so I think we're on the same wavelength."

Finally, Mbappé was asked to explain why he wanted to honour the last year of his Paris contract without extending: "I don't think there's anything to explain. I accept everything. People can talk, they can criticize. I'm young, so I was lucky enough to be a soccer observer, and there were a lot of things I didn't understand. In life, there are lots of things you don't understand. They don't have all the ins and outs of this case and too bad for them unfortunately. I'm sad for them, but I know why I do what I do and say what I say. That's the main thing, and there's no problem with that."
