Mercato Barça: Alemany promised Xavi a €10m transfer
Before leaving his post as director of soccer of Barça, Mateu Alemany promised Xavi to close a transfer of 10 million euros.
The information took everyone by surprise. On Tuesday evening, a few hours after the announcement of Leo Messi's suspension and Barça's victory over Osasuna, Barça announced the summer departure of its director of soccer Mateu Alemany, in office since 2021. The Spanish manager has decided to accept the great offer of Aston Villa where he will be better paid and have more power.
But before leaving Barça on July 1, Mateu Alemany will take care of the Barcelona mercato and has committed to carry out the various files of the blaugrana club until the last day of the mercato on August 31. According to AS, Alemany has promised Xavi to recruit Yannick Carrasco, whom Barça had already tried to sign in January when Memphis Depay left for Atletico Madrid.
Carrasco and Abde to replace Fati and Torres?
Barca failed to recruit the Belgian international in January, but negotiated with the Madrid club an option to buy for this summer between 16 and 19 million euros depending on the source. According to AS, Alemany will try to lower this amount and complete the transfer of Carrasco for 10 million euros. Xavi likes the former Monegasque very much and would like to be able to count on him next season.
