Mercato Chelsea: Arsenal target Kai Havertz
Kai Havertz is rumoured to be in Real Madrid's sights this summer, but could leave Chelsea for Arsenal.
Having invested heavily since last summer, Chelsea will need to sell during the mercato, and if possible before June 30, to improve their balance sheet. In addition to Mason Mount, who is being courted by Manchester United, and Mateo Kovacic, who is being targeted by Manchester City, Kai Havertz could also leave the Blues.
The 24-year-old German striker is attracting interest from Real Madrid, who are considering him to bolster their attacking midfield, without necessarily seeing him as Karim Benzema's successor. However, according to the English press, Arsenal are also interested, and have made an initial offer to Chelsea, according to The Athletic.
Chelsea demand big money for Kai Havertz
For the time being, however, the two London clubs are not on the same wavelength regarding the valuation of Kai Havertz, who has only two years left on his contract. According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea are asking for 81 million euros, while Arsenal would like to offer a maximum of 70 million euros, including bonuses.
Negotiations are expected to continue over the next few days, as Chelsea are open to a sale and Kai Havertz is interested in joining Arsenal. The player has also been linked with Bayern Munich, but the Bavarian club is not interested, according to the German version of Sky Sports.
