Mercato Chelsea: Kovacic moves closer to Manchester City
Manchester City have been courting Mateo Kovacic for several months and have stepped up the pace in recent days to convince the Croatian midfielder and Chelsea, who are willing to sell their player a year before the end of his contract.
With Ilkay Gündogan's future uncertain and just a month to go before his contract expires, Manchester City are stepping up the search for his possible successor. According to Fabrizio Romano, City have begun concrete talks with the entourage of Croatian midfielder Mateo Kovacic, whose contract with Chelsea expires in 2024.
Pep Guardiola is very fond of the former Real Madrid and Inter Milan player, and Chelsea are open to the idea of parting with him. According to Romano, a contractual agreement is close between Kovacic and Manchester City, who will now have to reach one with Chelsea, which should not be a problem.
