Having qualified for next season's Champions League, Newcastle are desperate to recruit a top-flight No.6 this summer, so that Bruno Guimarães can take his game to the next level next season. And according to the Daily Telegraph, Barella is the Magpies' priority, who have stepped up discussions in recent days.
Barella "untouchable"?
On Thursday, Barella made the front page of the Italian daily La Gazzetta dello Sport with the headline: untouchable. According to the famous pink paper, Inter Milan have no intention of selling their player this summer, whether for €60 million or any other price. As far as Inter are concerned, Barella is simply untransferable.

Is this just posturing? No, according to La Gazzetta, Inter Milan are adamant about keeping their 26-year-old, under contract until 2026. It will be interesting to see how the case develops over the next few days, and in particular what Barella's attitude will be to the siren calls of the Premier League.
