Mercato OL: Japanese goalkeeper in the sights
According to the Portuguese press, Olympique Lyonnais have made an offer for Japanese goalkeeper Kosuke Nakamura, who plays for Portimonense. The Portuguese club rejected the offer.
Seventh in Ligue 1 ahead of matchday 38, Olympique Lyonnais are in for a hectic summer mercato, with changes expected in both the squad and the organization chart. John Textor is keen to appoint new managers and strengthen the club's recruitment department.
While no such decision has yet been announced, the Portuguese press revealed on Thursday that Lyon are interested in Kosuke Nakamura, the 28-year-old Japanese goalkeeper with 6 caps for Portimonense, who have just managed to stay in the Portuguese top flight.
Portimonense turned down €3.5m offer from OL
According to O Jogo, OL even made an offer of €3.5 million for Kosuke Nakamura. This offer was immediately rejected by Portimonense, who informed OL that their bid was well below their player's €40 million release clause, and that they had no intention of "giving away their best assets".
At this stage, it's hard to say whether OL are looking for a new understudy for Anthony Lopes (Rémy Riou still has one year left on his contract) or a real competitor for the Portuguese goalkeeper next season. Kosuke Nakamura is 1m85 tall, is under contract until 2025 and has conceded 49 goals in 32 matches played this season, with 6 clean sheets.
