Mercato OM: Amorim rumour nipped in the bud
The Ruben Amorim rumour about OM was first put out by a Twittos before being vaguely relayed in France yesterday, but it was nipped in the bud by Portuguese daily A Bola.
Marcelo Gallardo, Paulo Fonseca and a third mystery coach? For several days now, the French media have been talking about a two- or even three-way race for the OM bench between the Argentine coach, the Portuguese coach and a third man whose name has not filtered down.
Some Italian media are still talking about Fabio Grosso, <a href=/news/mercato-om-fabio-grosso-leaves-frosinone>who has just left Frosinone, but this lead was denied earlier this week by La Provence and then again on Thursday by Italian journalist Nicolo Schira. In the last few days, a twittos also dropped the name of Ruben Amorim. A tweet that didn't make much of an impact, but was nevertheless picked up by a French website yesterday.
No talks between OM and Amorim
Enough for A Bola to investigate the matter and debunk the rumor on Thursday. According to the leading Portuguese sports daily, there have been no discussions between OM and Amorim to date, and the possibility is illusory in any case, given that the Portuguese coach has a €20 million release clause and intends to remain at Sporting CP next season after a disappointing 2022-2023 campaign.
Amorim's move to OM would have been a fine one, but it's already all but forgotten.
