Mercato PSG: Chelsea also to offer €60m for Ugarte
Like PSG, Chelsea are willing to pay €60 million for Sporting CP's Uruguayan midfielder Manuel Ugarte.
As revealed this Thursday morning by Portuguese sports daily Record and since confirmed by the French press, the PSG has sent a €60 million bid to Sporting CP for its Uruguayan international Manuel Ugarte (22). This offer corresponds to the amount of the defensive midfielder's release clause.
According to Record, Ugarte is keen to join PSG and has already made this clear to his current managers. However, according to Portuguese media outlet maisfutebol, the deal is not yet complete for PSG, as Chelsea have also decided to offer €60 million for the player.
Newcastle also ready to pay €60m
According to this source, both PSG and Chelsea want to pay the €60 million in instalments, and will therefore have to negotiate with Sporting CP, which holds 70% of the player's rights (Famalicão has 10% and Fénix 20%). Ultimately, the player will have the final say, according to maisfutebol.
According to FootMercato, Newcastle have also informed Sporting that they are ready to pay the 60 million clause. A three-way battle therefore lies ahead for Ugarte, who will have to decide quickly between these three attractive projects. PSG and Newcastle will be playing in the Champions League next season, not the Blues.
