Mercato PSG: Martin Odegaard in the radar ?
According to an English tabloid, PSG are interested in Martin Odegaard, who has enjoyed a great season at Arsenal.
The summer mercato opens in ten days' time, and the rumors are already flying. Especially in England, where the tabloids are always very imaginative (they're not the only ones, though). On Tuesday, the Daily Mail speculated on PSG's interest in Norwegian attacking midfielder Martin Odegaard.
Captain to Mikel Arteta at Arsenal, the 24-year-old left-hander has just enjoyed a great season with the Gunners (15 goals and 8 assists in the Premier League), who came within a whisker of snatching the title from Manchester City. According to the Daily Mail, PSG have taken note of the Norwegian's great season and are considering making an offer during the summer mercato.
Arsenal want to extend Odegaard's contract
The English media outlet readily concedes, however, that this transfer is unlikely to materialize, as Arsenal have no desire to lose their orchestra conductor, who is currently under contract until 2025, with an additional year as an option. A few days ago, Fabrizio Romano revealed that the London club would shortly be opening negotiations with its player to offer him a new long-term contract.
It is therefore possible that negotiations have already begun, and that Odegaard's entourage are using PSG's supposed interest to negotiate the best possible contract with the Gunners. It wouldn't be the first time this has happened...
