Mercato PSG: Mbappé expects nothing from the club
In the wake of PSG's defeat by Clermont, Kylian Mbappé was asked about his club's upcoming mercato, and made it clear that he expects nothing from his club.
At the end of a difficult season, despite winning a historic eleventh French league title, PSG lost 3-2 at home to Clermont on the final day of Ligue 1 on Saturday evening. Was this a disappointment for Kylian Mbappé?
"No, I think the most important thing was the tribute to Sergio (Rico). There are more important things than soccer. On the pitch, we were already champions. We could have lost 22-0 and it wouldn't have made any difference to us. We really had to pay tribute to Sergio," replied the Paris No.7 to Canal, while the Spanish goalkeeper is in a serious condition following his horse accident last Sunday.
"I'll settle for what the club does".
And when asked about his expectations for next season, implying whether he had any expectations at the dawn of PSG's summer mercato, Mbappé had this terse response: "No, no, no, nothing. I'm just here to play. As I said, I still have a contract and I've come to play. The club does what it can, and I'll settle for what the club does. The rest is none of my business."
Mbappé's way of reminding us that Paris Saint-Germain is not Kylian Saint-Germain, and that he is simply a player, not a sporting director or president.
