Mercato: Real Madrid consider Kai Havertz
Whether Karim Benzema stays or leaves for Saudi Arabia, Real Madrid are planning to recruit two strikers this summer. In addition to Joselu, whose arrival on loan has been confirmed, the Spanish club is interested in Kai Havertz, according to several corroborating sources.
A new name for the Real Madrid mercato. On Thursday, Florentino Pérez (president), Carlo Ancelotti (coach) and José Angel Sanchez (general manager) met to discuss the upcoming summer mercato and the players likely to strengthen the Merengue squad for next season.
And according to AS, Marca and Relevo, the name of Chelsea's German striker Kai Havertz (23) was at the heart of discussions between Real Madrid's decision-making trio. Whether Karim Benzema stays, as Marca reported last night, or finally decides to move to Saudi Arabia, Real want to sign two strikers this summer.
Kane or Havertz? It all depends on Benzema
The first will be Joselu, the Espanyol Barcelona striker, who will spend a season on loan to compensate for Mariano Diaz's departure at the end of his contract. If Benzema stays, Real will attempt to recruit Kai Havertz, three years after having already considered doing so.

Havertz is coming off a rather disappointing season at Chelsea (only 9 goals) and is unlikely to be retained by the Blues this summer. Harry Kane's name is also still around, but his arrival seems impossible if Benzema stays, especially as Tottenham won't let him go for less than €100 million.
If, on the other hand, Benzema were to sign for Saudi Arabia this summer, which would no longer be the trend, Real Madrid would go for Harry Kane. And while the Sun insists that he wants to stay in England, Relevo claims that Kane dreams of playing for Real Madrid, and will favour that destination if the opportunity arises.
