Mercato: Saliba and Arsenal reach agreement on an extension
Under contract at Arsenal until June 2024, William Saliba has agreed with his managers to extend his lease until 2027.
William Saliba is set to extend his Arsenal contract. Having enjoyed a great season with the Gunners before suffering a back injury that kept him out of the last 11 Premier League games, the 22-year-old French central defender has agreed with his managers to extend his contract for a further three years, until 2027.
William Saliba was much courted
This information was revealed over the weekend by The Athletic and confirmed on Monday by RMC Sport, which adds that the former ASSE, Nice and OM defender has also negotiated an additional year's option. According to the French media outlet, Manchester United and Bayern Munich were also interested in him. The English press had also recently mentioned an interest from PSG.
These rumours are now forgotten, however, as Saliba has decided to sign a long-term contract with Arsenal, completing another strategic extension following those of Bukayo Saka, Gabriel, Gabriel Martinelli and Aaron Ramsdale.
