Official: Bielsa new Uruguay coach
The appointment of Marcelo Bielsa to the Uruguayan bench has been in the pipeline for several weeks, but in the last few hours it has been made official by the Uruguayan Football Association.
Marcelo Bielsa has found a cooler. Without a job since his departure from Leeds last year, the 67-year-old Argentine coach has just been appointed to lead the Uruguayan team until the 2026 World Cup. A World Cup that will bring together 48 teams and will be played in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

This will be the third experience of Marcelo Bielsa at the head of a selection, having previously managed Argentina (1998-2004) and Chile (2007-2011). The former OM and Lille coach will have a great generation to lead, with players like Federico Valverde (Real Madrid), Darwin Nuñez (Liverpool) or Ronald Araujo (FC Barcelona), all of them regulars in big European clubs. We can't wait to see it!
