Official: Chelsea fires Graham Potter

Seven months after his appointment to replace Thomas Tuchel, Graham Potter has just been fired by Chelsea after another defeat against Aston Villa.

It's already over between Graham Potter and Chelsea. A few days after Bayern Munich and Tottenham, who have respectively separated from Julian Nagelsmann and Antonio Conte, Chelsea has announced the dismissal of its coach Graham Potter, who had succeeded Thomas Tuchel last September.

Former coach of Brighton, Potter managed to qualify the Blues for the quarterfinals of the Champions League, but has a very disappointing record in the Premier League with 7 wins, 7 draws and 8 defeats in 22 games managed. This record is a shame, especially since Chelsea spent more than €330 million during the winter transfer window to strengthen their squad.

Nagelsmann to replace Potter?

Beaten 2-0 by Aston Villa on Saturday in the 29th round of the Premier League, Chelsea are in a disappointing 11th place in the league and will need to win the Champions League to have any hope of competing in the competition next season.

While waiting for a new coach - the name of Nagelsmann is being bandied about - Chelsea has decided to appoint Bruno Saltor as interim coach.

The London club's co-owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali said: "On behalf of everyone at the club, we want to thank Graham sincerely for his contribution to Chelsea. We have the highest degree of respect for Graham as a coach and as a person. He has always conducted himself with professionalism and integrity and we are all disappointed in this outcome"

"Along with our incredible fans, we will all be getting behind Bruno and the team as we focus on the rest of the season. We have 10 Premier League games remaining and a Champions League quarter final ahead. We will put every effort and commitment into every one of those games so that we can end the season on a high" they added.

Earlier on Sunday, Leicester City also parted ways with manager Brendan Rodgers as the Foxes are 19th in the Premier League.
