Official: Eden Hazard leaves Real Madrid
On Saturday evening, Real Madrid announced the departure of Eden Hazard, who had one year left on his contract.
Eden Hazard and Real Madrid are over! Having arrived in 2019 from Chelsea at the peak of his career, the Belgian international never managed to make his mark in Madrid and is leaving four years later by the back door, with just one year remaining on his contract.
Real Madrid and Hazard have reached an amicable agreement for the Belgian to leave this summer, and the big question now is whether the former Lille man wants to continue his career or call it a day at the age of 32. According to The Athletic, retirement is an option for Hazard, but he has not yet made up his mind.
A meagre record at Real Madrid
In four years at Madrid, Hazard made just 76 appearances, scoring 7 goals and providing 12 assists. A terrible record for a player of his talent, who never seems to have recovered from the injury he picked up against PSG in November 2019, shortly after his arrival.
This is already the third departure made official by Real Madrid on Saturday, following those of Marco Asensio and Mariano Diaz.
