Official: Lampard back on the Chelsea bench
Two years after leaving the club, Frank Lampard is back at Chelsea as interim coach until the end of the season.
Chelsea has its new coach, the fourth already this season after Thomas Tuchel, Graham Potter and Bruno Saltor, who will have simply managed the Blues' 0-0 draw against Liverpool on Tuesday.
As it had leaked last night, Chelsea decided to recall their legendary midfielder Frank Lampard to finish the season. The club's all-time leading scorer, Lampard has been named interim coach of the Blues until the end of the season.

"We continue our process for a permanent head coach"
"We are delighted to welcome Frank back to Stamford Bridge" reacted Chelsea co-owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali. "Frank is a Premier League Hall of Famer and a legend at this club. As we continue our thorough and exhaustive process for a permanent head coach, we want to provide the club and our fans with a clear and stable plan for the remainder of the season. We want to give ourselves every chance of success and Frank has all of the characteristics and qualities we need to drive us to the finish line."
Chelsea are 11th in the Premier League with nine games remaining and will face Real Madrid in the quarterfinals of the Champions League. Frank Lampard was free since January and his dismissal from Everton, which he had joined a year earlier, and returns to the Chelsea bench that he had already occupied from July 2019 to January 2021, reaching in particular the final of the FA Cup in 2020 (defeat in the final against Arsenal).
