Official: Leicester part ways with Brendan Rodgers

Beaten by Roy Hodgson's Crystal Palace on Saturday and second to last in the Premier League, Leicester City on Sunday parted company with coach Brendan Rodgers, who had been in the job for four years.

All good stories have an end. In office since February 2019, Brendan Rodgers was fired this Sunday by Leicester City, disappointing 19th in the Premier League with nine games to go (the Foxes still have 10 games to play).

The Foxes have not won since February 11 and lost 2-1 at Crystal Palace on Saturday, a direct competitor for survival who recently fired Patrick Vieira to recall Roy Hodgson.

Winner of the first FA Cup in the history of Leicester City in 2021, as well as the Community Shield that same year, the 50-year-old Northern Irish coach will also have led Leicester City to its first European Cup semi-final last season (in the Europa League Conference). Not enough, however, to save his head following the poor season of his team.

"Immediate responsibility for the men's first team coaching and match preparation will be taken on by the club's long-time first team coaches, Adam Sadler and Mike Stowell," the English club said in its statement.
