Official: Lens confirms its first mercato recruit

Second in Ligue 1 and qualified for the next Champions League, RC Lens have announced their first recruit of the summer mercato in the person of Stijn Spierings.

Interested in Andy Diouf strengthening their midfield, RC Lens made a midfield reinforcement official on Friday. After three successful seasons with Toulouse, Dutch midfielder Stijn Spierings (27) has signed a four-year contract with Lens, running until June 2027. The Dutchman will wear the number 5 shirt in the north of France.

"Over and above his particularly successful season with TFC and his statistics as the best ball-winner in the 5 major leagues, we are welcoming a mature, well-balanced man who has shown a great desire to join us. Stijn strengthens our midfield and brings additional characteristics to Franck Haise and his staff," said Arnaud Pouille, General Manager of RC Lens.
