Unlike Karim Benzema, Luka Modric preferred to extend his Real Madrid contract rather than join Saudi Arabia.
Luka Modric stays at Real Madrid. With his contract due to expire on June 30, the Croatian Ballon d'Or winner officially extended his contract with the Spanish club, which he joined in 2012 from Tottenham and with whom he has won 23 titles, including 5 Champions League titles, until June 2024.
Like Karim Benzema, Luka Modric had a real golden bridge to join Saudi Arabia, but preferred to stay at Real Madrid for another year, as did Toni Kroos and Nacho Fernandez, who have also extended their contracts until 2024 in recent days.
