Monchi, who was Sevilla's sporting director for 21 years and also worked at AS Roma from 2017 to 2019, will reunite at Aston Villa with Unai Emery, who joined the English club during last season and with whom he previously collaborated for several seasons on the Sevilla side.
"I'm delighted to be joining Aston Villa, a great project that aims for excellence from the under-9s to the highest level, and I totally share my managers' vision. I'm also delighted and looking forward to working again with Unai Emery, one of the best managers in the world of soccer. After spending so many years at Sevilla FC and winning several European trophies with my lifelong club, I can't wait to build on Aston Villa's recent successes and ensure that this colossal club continues to grow and improve," reacted Monchi.
