Official: Sevilla extend Mendilibar's contract
Appointed last March to replace Jorge Sampaoli, José Luis Mendilibar has been extended by Sevilla FC for a further season.
José Luis Mendilibar continues at Sevilla. The Andalusian club made it official on Tuesday, a week after their Europa League final victory over Jose Mourinho's AS Roma. "Next season's coach will be José Luis Mendilibar. One season. He only wanted one year and we signed for one year," Sevilla FC vice-president José María del Nido Carrasco confirmed to COPE.

In two and a half months on the Sevilla bench, Mendilibar has taken charge of 17 matches, winning 8, drawing 6 and losing 3. In addition to the Europa League triumph, the 7th in the Spanish club's history, Mendilibar also helped Sevilla maintain their position in La Liga, a feat that was far from easy when he took over, with the club in 14th place, just two points from the red zone.
