Official: Strasbourg announces its first recruit of the mercato
Like Lens, Strasbourg made its first recruit of the summer mercato official this Friday in the person of Steven Baseya, a young French central defender from Nancy.
Officially acquired on Thursday by the BlueCo consortium, which already owns Chelsea, Strasbourg made its first recruit of the summer mercato official on Friday, and it's not a fancy name, but a promising 18-year-old central defender, Steven Baseya, who was playing with Nancy's reserves and has signed until 2026.
We're delighted to welcome Steven," said Marc Keller, who remains RCSA president despite the club's takeover. The qualities he has shown over the last few years are promising for the future. We know we can count on his exemplary determination to continue learning, and we look forward to seeing him progress within our squad.

🤝 Bienvenue Steven !
"Steven is a young French international who we have had the opportunity to follow through his good performances with the French U18 team and his appearances for AS Nancy Lorraine's youth and first team. We're looking to attract the best profiles in each age category, and Steven is a central defender who belongs to a category that interested us", explained Loïc Désiré, Racing's head of recruitment.
