PSG set sights on Luis Enrique

After the failure of Julian Nagelsmann, PSG decided to go for Luis Enrique, former coach of Barça and the Spanish national team.

Thiago Motta, Sergio Conceição, Jose Mourinho, Marcelo Gallardo... many names have circulated since Friday evening and the announcement of the end <a href=/news/mercato-psg-thunderbolt-for-nagelsmann>of negotiations between PSG and Julian Nagelsmann, but this Sunday, several sources agreed on one name, that of Luis Enrique.

A familiar name

Available since his departure from the Spanish national team at the end of the last World Cup, <a href=/news/psg-naples-duel-for-luis-enrique>Luis Enrique had already been presented on May 25 as a serious option by Le Parisien. At the time, he was also being courted by Napoli, who ultimately opted for Rudi Garcia.

This Sunday morning, Téléfoot reported that the former Barça coach was now the clear favorite to succeed Christophe Galtier, and that PSG hoped to finalize the deal next week.

This news was confirmed by L'Equipe, who confirmed that PSG had chosen Luis Enrique and hoped to announce his appointment in the middle of next week. The trend is also confirmed by Le Parisien, which states that discussions between the Spaniard and PSG are at an advanced stage, with the aim of signing a two-year contract.

Luis Enrique, who coached Barça during their famous comeback against PSG in 2017, is set to move to Paris, where he will be reunited with Neymar and a dressing room featuring a number of Spanish-speaking players.
