Real Madrid make Karim Benzema's departure official
Real Madrid announced on Sunday the departure of their number nine and captain Karim Benzema, who is now set to pursue his career in Saudi Arabia.
"Reality is not the internet". On Thursday, Karim Benzema dampened rumours that he was on his way out of Real Madrid. Three days later, the Spanish club finally confirmed that KB9 would be leaving after Sunday's match against Athletic Bilbao.

A legend with the Spanish club, which he joined in 2009 at the age of 21, Karim Benzema won 25 titles with Real Madrid, including 5 Champions Leagues, and made no fewer than 647 appearances, scoring 353 goals. This incredible record will be honoured by Real Madrid next Tuesday, in the presence of the Bron native and Florentino PΓ©rez.
Now free of any contract, Karim Benzema is set to continue his career in Saudi Arabia with reigning champions Al-Ittihad, where a lucrative two-year contract awaits him.
