The FFF dreams of Thierry Henry for the French national women’s team
In search of a successor to Corinne Diacre to lead the French women's team, the FFF is dreaming of Thierry Henry, but is also studying other names, as Jocelyn Gourvennec.
Thierry Henry, the second highest scorer in the history of the French national team with 51 goals, could be the next coach of the French women national team. According to L'Equipe, the FFF is dreaming of the Arsenal legend to take charge of the French women's football team, which will compete in the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand this summer (July 20 to August 20).
Last week, the FFF fired Corinne Diacre, who was in conflict with several senior players, and a commission composed of Jean-Michel Aulas (president of OL), Marc Keller (president of Strasbourg), Aline Riera and Laura Georges (ex-internationals) was charged with finding a new man or woman to lead the 'Bleues'.
Gourvennec auditioned by the FFF
According to L'Equipe, several leaders of the FFF have recently suggested the name of Thierry Henry, who has the main criterion sought by Jean-Michel Aulas: charisma. If his experiences on the bench of AS Monaco and Impact Montreal were not particularly successful, Henry is a respected and appreciated consultant and his status as a soccer legend pleads in his favor. For the time being, however, it is not known if he is interested in the job.
In the meantime, Henry is not the only profile studied by the FFF. According to L'Equipe, Jocelyn Gourvennec was interviewed on Wednesday morning by the FFF commission. Gourvennec is free since his departure from LOSC at the end of last season. According to RMC Sport, Hervé Renard (Saudi Arabia), Patrice Lair (ex-Bordeaux), Gérard Prêcheur (PSG), Sonia Bompastor (OL) and Sandrine Soubeyrand (Paris FC) are also on the FFF's radar.
